After nearly a year-long hiatus, our home improvement is moving forward yet again. We return again to the guest bedroom.
When we last left our guest bedroom, it looked like this:

We had finished painting, and put in the closet lights, but left it at that.

The floors remained cement terrazzo, once beautiful, long ago cracked and worn.

After thoroughly scrubbing the floor, we laid down the underfloor padding (the purple stuff seen here)

The laminate flooring pops together like Legos. A very friendly project for do-it-yourself-ers like us.

As usual, the hardest part was cutting the floor to fit inside the closet.

Here we can see the finished floor, along with the new window shade.

As luck would have it, we found a great deal on furniture after putting in the new floor, so we went ahead and furnished the room.

We also added a closet organizer. We finally have a “real” room, with stuff and furniture in it, just like normal people.
The only thing left to do is the trim (floor molding) and doors. Because we want all the doors to match, we intend to replace them all at the same time. Other than that, this room has been 100% refurbished.

Compare to the original (above). We’ve come a long way, baby!
Next up: master suite.
