About

In August of 2006, my fiance and I purchased a 3-bedroom home located in a small town beside the beaches of the Florida Space Coast.

It’s a small town (about 10,000 people), built in the early 1960′s. The houses are cement bunkers. Everywhere you look you see parks and trees, and everyone lives within walking distance to the beach.

There is only one small problem with our dream home: it’s a total dump!

The previous owner was about 103 years old, and had done no significant maintenance in well over twenty years. Our house’s exterior is the color of Pepto Bismo- and that’s no accident. Looking at the kitchen is sure to make your stomach hurt. The floors are worn and cracked, the bathrooms are tiny and ancient, and the backyard has reverted to raw jungle.

Our mission is simple: Fix this dump!

This blog chronicles our house, and its slow transformation from “surf ghetto” to dream home. We’ve made a few mistakes, but we’re getting pretty good at this home improvement thing. Can we do it? Can this house be made beautiful again? Should we have bought a condo instead?

Stay tuned and find out!
